Vundu Pontoon Tents
| Specifications
and dimensions Length 13000 Beam 4450 Weight 3,5 tons empty Draught 600mm loaded Flotilla sailing in the jungle, with a fleet of Vundu houseboats, is the perfect melding of eco and adventure tourism with a great group experience. The VUNDU is a 12m-tented houseboat, designed for the tourism operators on tropical rivers and estuaries. The deep catamaran hulls give the boats great rough water abilities and make the boats easy to handle in high winds. These boats are equipped to the standards expected by the up market international tourist, but are priced so that the operator can cater to the middle-income market if necessary. The boats have 2 bedrooms, a bathroom with shower and a living area with a fully equipped kitchen. Exclusive Tents supply the bulk of the tents to NGOs, Eco Lodges, Tented Resorts and Safari Lodges outside of S. Africa. The tented structure has a 3-layered top with a 300mm airflow gap between the double flysheets and the tent roof. This, combined with the 1m overhangs, keeps the tent cool and gives it structural stability, even in very high winds. The glassfibre hulls are separated into 22 compartments for multiple redundancy in case of collision and the lower section of the hulls have 9 layers of 600gm chopped strand matt and 1 layer of 450gm woven cloth to give a bottom that is virtually indestructible. The catamaran hulls give great rough water handling, a stable living environment and excellent fuel economy. They turn easily and are simple for beginners to handle. The boats have a 1.5-ton carrying capacity and hold 300lt of water and enough fuel for extended cruising. The tents are amazingly temperature stable. Being 4.8m (16ft) wide and 12,5m (42ft) long, the boat is spacious and comfortable. There is approximately 40m2 (400ft2) of inside living area and 20m2 (200ft2) of outside deck. The bedrooms are extremely spacious with the main bedroom being 4800 X 2800cm and the second bedroom is 3200 X 2400cm. The new boats are approximately 1m longer than those shown in the photographs and have an improved interior layout, as seen in the diagrams below. We will also be making a full range of support vessels, including dinner cruisers, bar boats, ferries and supply boats. The boats can be packed into 12m containers, when disassembled, which makes transport to the most out of the way areas, possible. It takes approximately 14 days to assemble a boat on site and our teams are equipped to operate in even the most remote areas. |
